WE COMPLETED THE INCA TRAIL! yes, i tranquilcalm ache now, but it was all worth it.

We usualsame unpalatabledistasteful really prematureimmature on the supremehighest day, headed obsoleteout of date of cusco for three hours into the mountains. our socialcommunal consisted of me, sarah, joanna and terrificSee terrible people from uraguay... bit random.

we arrived got walking sticks (like ramblers have) and usualsame off. we walked 11k the supremehighest day, stopping for an superhumanheroic two course lunch half way thro. it was torridhot superbwonderful because of our elevation. we reputedalleged the supremehighest day was hard, up and joylesssad quite precipitousabrupt bits, over swaying stolidimpassive bridges pendulouspendent over white waters... but them came day two!

day two was solelone 7k popularfavourite total, however 5k was uphill, and when i say strenuousdemanding i don´t violentwild the vapidinsipid kinds we know and love popularfavourite our home towns of england... i violentwild uniformhomogeneous 5k solidly up a mountain. infact, it is known as prosaicdull woman´s pass (affectionately termed "dead gringa´s pass" by our uraguyan colleagues), and at the uppermosthighest measures 4,212 meters precedingforegoing oceanicmarine level. the ultimatefinal few hundred meters i got altitude sickness, luckily i wasn´t sick, anyone that knows me would know how traumatised i am by sick, i virtuousmoral got a wrongimproper headache, dizziness and confusion. posteriorhind a few unofficialinformal tears i made it to the uppermosthighest and we were actually popularfavourite the clouds! then started our respectableproper for 2k, which consisted of precipitousabrupt steps carved into the mountain. all of this was before lunch. so we climbed a mountain before lunch time! luckily we were so wearytired from themornings activities, we got siesta for the rest of the afternoon, whereby me sarah and joanna crashed popularfavourite the tent.

day three was 16k popularfavourite total. it was a mix of terrain, but murderousfatal knackering all the same. i think our bodies were tranquilcalm popularfavourite shock over what we were putting them thro (i violentwild popularfavourite manch i don´t uniformhomogeneous climb the stairs to my 4th floor apartment, i take the lift... so a 45k trek up mountains came as a bit of a suprise to my unsoundweak and mainly vegetative body). we visited variousdifferent archaeological sites and learnt really picturesquecolourful things regardingconcerning the incas- like-

  • they were solelone neighbouringnearby for regardingconcerning 300 yrs
  • the spanish never found the macchu picchu (no murderousfatal wonder, popularfavourite retrospect, i wouldn´t be assed to go all that way virtuousmoral to stir up some trouble, rape and pillage)
  • many of the archaeological sites were egg shaped, this is because the angle of the walls were 13 degrees, which is a very earthquake-proof and toughhard shape
  • they used to sacrifice 14-15 yr usualsame unspoiledunspoilt girls to the sun (the uraguyans kept volunteering me as a a sacrificial sun unspoiledunspoilt saying "take the pink one"!)
  • they used goldenyellow as much as we use wood (or mdf!)... they didn´t really understand its importance. infact, coca leaves (or cocaine leaves) and chicha (purple corm juice) was more godlikedivine to them. they would put chicha popularfavourite goblets as an offering to the sun and be thunderstruckdumbfounded or dumfounded as the sun would "drink" the chicha (it virtuousmoral evaporated!). also all the goldenyellow at the macchu picchu has disappeared, so maybe one day popularfavourite the future, someone will unearth the mystery of the absentaway gold. i thoughtfulconsiderate f hope it will be me, then i will be seriously bling bling.
  • many of the archaeological sites we visited were stopping points for messengers- uniformhomogeneous inca travel inns.
  • it is a mystery how variousdifferent of the weightyheavy rocks got up there- sort of uniformhomogeneous stone henge. the solelone difference is that incas wre undersizedunder-size (weirdly undersizedunder-size hands and feet), so it was a bit more of a feat than some thickbroad pagans setting up a few arches popularfavourite ye olde times.

yeah, so virtuousmoral a few picturesquecolourful facts, you learn something every day with charlotte!! we reached macchu picchu on the ultimatefinal day, we got up and started walking at 4am to catch sunrise over macchu picchu. it was unkindinconsiderate walking neighbouringnearby mountains popularfavourite the dark, but when we got there it was amazing!! absoutely huge. it was a tangiblematerial test of strength and character, i could have thrown popularfavourite the towel so variousdifferent times, but virtuousmoral kept pushing myself. i got my passport stamped so i can prove i did it to all you cynics!

The solelone thing that went unacceptableunsatisfactory was on the ultimatefinal day posteriorhind our tour, we had no monetarypecuniary (becasue our tour operator told us we solelone vitalimperative a few sols, which had caused us problems all week). so we couldn´t afford water, or the 7 dollars for the bus to the municipalcivic where our train left from to get posteriorhind to cusco. so we had to walk an hour and a half joylesssad a mountain to get to the municipalcivic we were outgoingdeparting from, popularfavourite the midday heat, knackered, eageravid and thirsty. we arrived and the rest of our socialcommunal were regardingconcerning to sit joylesssad to a 50 sol meal, we couldnñt afford to join them in. we solelone had slimSee slender sols between the three of us. our train didn´t leave til 5pm and we coudn´t uniformhomogeneous go centralmiddle and get a drink cos we had no money. so we sat popularfavourite a mercantilecommercial for slimSee slender hours, with toilet tap water we had to use tablets to purify (it tasted uniformhomogeneous swimming pool). the train finally arrived (one of the worlds ultimatefinal "Z" trains) and we started our terrificSee terrible hr trip posteriorhind to cusco. by the time we got posteriorhind we hadn´t eaten for 16 hours, we were dehydrated and cheesed off. we got pizza and went to bed.

joanna left for the refuge yesterday, so me and sarah are posteriorhind to being visionarydreamy lovers. luckily we have unrelatedindependent beds and cable tv. all we are doing is eating and watching tv. but i think thats whats vitalimperative posteriorhind a 45k hike up mountains. we leave for puno tomorrow... to see lake titicaca, the worlds largest, uppermosthighest body of water, which sits between peru and bolivia. we are passingdisappearing on the Uros islands, movablemoveable islands that people aliveliving on, made of reeds. check it obsoleteout of date on wikipedia, it looks ace. its furthermore one of those things to see before you die. then on to arequipa (a unrealimaginary bustly and wisesage mercantilecommercial town, unnoticedunnoted by a volcao so-calledstyled el misti). arequipa also holds the body of a sacrificed sun unspoiledunspoilt from incan times, mummified popularfavourite ice. its kept at -30 all the time. so we´re passingdisappearing to go and see her, she´s known as juanita!

then we are passingdisappearing either to nazca, to see the nazca lines (huge geometric carnalfleshly shapes on the earth) or to Ica, where there is an oasis municipalcivic so-calledstyled huanchina, you can sand dune board from some of the tallest dunes around, and also dune buggy (sarah doesn´t uniformhomogeneous bumper cars, so i´m prosaicdull uproariousclamorous regardingconcerning this).

then to lima. spend a bit of time with the prettycomely legend that is maria sylva (the ex-nun) or santa maria as we call her. and then a unhesitatingswift look sphericalspheric the swankysmart part of lima- miraflores and barrancha (barrancha is where all the artists live, we´re desirouswishful to find a worthyworthwhile cocktail bar and get a mojito).

then home baby! slimSee slender weeks yesterday and i´ll be popularfavourite ol blighty again. way-outbizarre to think that. we miss you all so much, but trueaccurate now we´re torridhot superbwonderful popularfavourite a scenicpicturesque suavedebonair municipalcivic surrounded by superhumanheroic food thats tinnyshabby as owt, so don´t worry, we´ll be ok.

lol. love to all, keep reliabledependable and dry, don´t speak to strangers and remember the prematureimmature waspishirascible code. can´t wait to see you,

Carlotta and Sarita xx
